As with any other form of physical activity, sex has health benefits that can extend your life expectancy.

1. It boosts your immune system
According to a study published in Psychological Reports, having sex one to two times each week helps strengthen the immune system. A 30 percent increase in IgA (an antibody that measures how sturdy our immune system is) was identified among men and women who had sex once or twice per week.
2. Lowers Blood Pressure
Men and women with high blood pressure can both benefit from regular sex. Women between the ages of 57 and 85 who participated in a recent study were less likely to suffer from hypertension! Erectile dysfunction and decreased libido are also possible side effects of having high blood pressure.

Nearly 1,000 men in the age range of 45 to 59 were followed for 10 years by a study published in The BMJ. There was a 50% reduction in mortality risk in males who had frequent orgasms versus guys who did not.

Evidence from the Archives of Sexual Behaviour suggests that having multiple partners may help women’s memories. Women had penetrative sex performed higher on a memory test that tested their ability to recall words. The hippocampus, a region of the brain involved in memory and learning, may be stimulated as a result of sexual stimulation. Sexting, though, hasn’t been conclusively linked to memory improvement or sexiness, and researchers aren’t sure why.
